Through The Trees

Through The Trees

Dallas was founded on the east bank of the Trinity River. Fort Worth grew up on the west side of the wide river flood plain. Dallas grew toward the north and east, and the part in between--the flood plain--has become densely populated only in the last 15 years or so.

Of course it should be lush and green. It's essentially a wide, flat riverbed. At previous times, folks probably called it a swamp in a rainy season. At other times, in drought, the Trinity River can dry up to barely a trickle. Just now, it's very green and waiting for mosquito season.
