Daring Adventure

Daring Adventure

On Friday (11/2) through Sunday (11/4) I walked the Susan G Komen 3-day walk--60 mile of walking across 3 days from northern Dallas suburbs to the historic Fair Park grounds just south of downtown Dallas with two nights of sleeping in tents in between. I think I'll recover... though the blisters are still rather profound.

I walked for awhile along side this father-daughter team who have chosen the name, "The Alabama All-Stars" as their team name, as they are appropriately from Alabama. The Helen Keller quote their shirts (expanded here):

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.

Take a moment to read the Wikiquotes for Helen Keller. Wow. It's impossible to imagine her perception without having sight or hearing. Her insight, though, is stunning.
