Barkin' Dawgs

Barkin' Dawgs

With the pattern of our socks' weave and heat splotches still visible, there you see three sets of feet that had just walked themselves 13 miles... or a combined total of 810,000 steps. In 3 days we covered 30 miles in training. And, we'll get up at 5 am tomorrow morning to do it again, even though we all ended up with a new blister in a new place after that long one.

We're doing the job for several reasons, but the biggie is that we know first-hand what an incredibly horrific thing breast cancer is. My sister is a breast cancer survivor. Our family has had no history of breast cancer, and that didn't make any difference.

Breast cancer touches most everyone through family and friends. Here are some stats from the Susan B. Komen foundation:

In 2012, it is estimated that among U.S. women there will be:
  • 226,870 new cases of invasive breast cancer (includes new cases of primary breast cancer among survivors, but not recurrence of original breast cancer among survivors).
  • 63,300 new cases of in situ breast cancer.
  • 39,510 breast cancer deaths.

Please support my efforts with a donation. Even a small amount will be valuable and much appreciated.
